Woman found dead in Iowa cornfield was mother of four young children

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The woman whose body was found in a farm field in southeast Iowa was the mother of four young children. 29-year-old Brandy Mae Shepherd-Margita of Anamosa was missing for a week before her body was found near the town of Wayland in Henry County.

Her mother, Heather Brokaw posted the news about her daughter on Facebook.

“They found Brandy’s body in a field in southeast Iowa yesterday. My baby girl is gone.”

Shepherd-Margita had been missing for a week before her body was discovered on Friday, August 9.

Brokaw tells KWQC-TV 6 that investigators have not said how her daughter died, but the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is involved in the case.

The the children, ages 9, 5, 3, and 11 months are now living with Brokaw.
