Missouri River Flooding Closing Roads Near Honey Creek, Iowa

The intersection at 145th Street and Rosewood Road near Honey Creek in northwest Pottawattamie County is again closed due to flooding. That is just west of I-29 and for the third time this year it has flooded. The water is rising fast. 24 hours ago the water was near the edge of the road. Today, that road is covered.

for Angelika Harrod and her husband are preparing to be flooded in again. She tells 6 News that, “We were stuck here for a little over a month before we could get out." That was last May and her medications had to be delivered by boat. She is hoping this won't last that long and says if they have enough groceries and the sump pumps work, they will be okay.

Iowa DOT is anticipating that I-29 will close due to water over the roadway near Honey Creek sometime on Wednesday. The situation could change in a short period of time and drivers are urged to pay close attention to updates.

If I-29 does close, traffic will be detoured to I-80 and I-680.
