CDC Continues Prepares For Possibly More Coronavirus Cases

The CDC provided an update Friday morning regarding developments concerning coronavirus.

The CDC continues to work closely with the State Department to keep travelers informed. The release stated, “We never expected that we would catch every single traveler with coronavirus returning from China given the nature of this virus and how it’s spreading.”

the CDC is not seeing the virus spread on a community scale in the U.S. but it is possible and likely it may eventually happen. They report the new virus represents a tremendous new health threat. There is no vaccine for this virus and they do not have specific to treat it.

The CDC is taking actions to reduce the impact of coronavirus in the U.S. by readying the public health workforce to respond to local cases and the possibility those could become a pandemic. Steps being taken include working with healthcare systems across the country and to reinforce infection control.
