Heat, humidity, thunderstorms in Tuesday's forecast

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa will be seeing the full range of summer weather on Tuesday as hot, humid weather in the afternoon will give way to evening thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service says temperatures across the state will climb into the upper 80's to lower 90's.

Humidity will push heat index readings in to the upper 90's to near 100--the hottest weather of the season so far.

The Weather Service says thunderstorms are then expected to move into Northern Iowa during the late afternoon and evening hours.

Some storms may be severe with large hail and damaging winds.
