Windsor Heights Postpones 4th of July Fireworks Over Spike in COVID-19

WINDSOR HEIGHTS, Iowa - There won't be any fireworks in the city of Windsor Heights this year.

The city announced Thursday the postponement of it's firework show, due to a significant surge of COVID-19 cases in Polk County, the state of Iowa and nationwide.

It said it does not want to create situations where exposure can occur through group events.

The city said postponing the fireworks show is the best way for it to do its part in helping prevent groups or crowds from gathering. In a statement, the city said it would announce a make-up date in the future.

The Windsor Heights Chamber of Commerce has also canceled their 4th of July Parade and the Windsor Heights Foundation canceled the Nights in the Heights 2020 Concert Series.
