Governor Reynolds Extending Public Health Disaster Emergency in Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is extending the Public Health Disaster Emergency for another 30 days.

Reynolds signed the proclamation Friday, extending COVID-19 safety guidelines and restrictions for Iowa businesses until 11:59 p.m. on November 15th.

"Before, we were able to really tie that to maybe a nursing home outbreak or a manufacturing plant," says Reynolds. "And now what we're seeing is more community spread throughout the state."

This ongoing proclamation requires bars and restaurants to keep groups of people six feet apart and seated when eating or drinking. Social distancing and hygiene requirements at places like gyms, casinos, salons and others remain in place.

Polk County has the highest number of new COVID-19 cases per capita in the state, according to the White House Coronavirus Task Force.
