Western Iowa Woman Charged with First Degree Murder in Boyfriend's Death

DENISON, Iowa - A woman faces first degree murder charges in the shooting death of her boyfriend in western Iowa.

Crawford County deputies making a welfare check at a residence in Dow City found 46-year-old Jeremy Frank with a gunshot wound Sunday night.

He has pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital.

Frank's live-in girlfriend, 44-year-old Beth Guzman, is now charged with first-degree murder in his death.

A complaint against Guzman said she admitted in an interview to shooting a handgun numerous times at Frank, and hitting him at least once.

Guzman said she got into a fight with Frank at his place of work earlier, and then went home and armed herself and waited for him to return. The complaint says Guzman told investigators that as soon as Frank entered the house, he began yelling and when he reached the bedroom, she started shooting at him.
