(Undated) -- An Iowa man says his knees are sore, but otherwise he feels pretty good after 225 holes of golf Monday. Cory Schultes of Johnston played a dozen rounds of golf at a private course in Ankeny to raise money for The Miracle Travel Works. The charity supports the travel expenses for Midwest families with children undergoing medical care outside of the area..
Schultes tells WHO Radio News he started his golf game just after 5 a.m. using a couple of glow-balls. He continued for 16-hours, rushing through the course, finishing just after 9 p.m. He says his back, shoulders, and arms feel okay today, (the day after), but his knees ache. He figures he did up to 2,000 squats during the marathon golf game.
Schultes raised more than $47,000 for his efforts and says he'd like to do it again some day, and beat his record. He notes, however, he'll try to do more training to get ready for all those squats.
He says he plays golf for fun, but prefers to play through a course as quickly as possible, although he says his game is not considered speed golfing.
