(Polk County, Iowa) -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office says a fatal crash was caused by road rage.

Steven Clark is facing multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle, related to a multiple vehicle crash on the Highway 65 bypass on August 26th. Investigators say John Schmidt lost control of his vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed, crossed the median, and was hit by oncoming vehicles. Schmidt was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened after a road rage incident between Clark and Schmidt, and both drivers had accelerated to high speeds at the time of the crash.
