(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A non-profit group is donating a protective vest to a Cedar Rapids police dog. The vest for "Tibi" is bullet and stab protective. It will be embroidered with the sentiment "Honoring those who have served and sacrificed." Such vests costs more than one-thousand dollars.

The vest is from Vested Interest in K9s, and is sponsored by the Humane Society of the U-S.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. provides protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The organization has provided more than 44-hundred vests to police dogs in all 50 states at a value of $6.9 million, made possible by private and corporate donations.

Each vest has a value of $1,744-$2,283, weighs an average of 4-5 lb., and comes with a five-year warranty.
