(Ames, IA) -- The City of Ames is planning what leaders are calling a "transformative" project for Lincoln Way, just south of the city's historic downtown. Ames Planning and Housing Director Kelly Diekman says the Lincoln Corridor Project has been in the works for years, but appears to be getting closer to a reality and crews may break ground late in 2022.
Diekman says plans call for an 8-to-10 story hotel, convention space, housing, and retail space for the project along Lincoln Way between Clark and Kellogg. Once completed the hotel will be the tallest building in Ames, outside of the Iowa State University campus.
He says plans also include a pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks, leading to downtown Ames.
