Thanksgiving Day Brings Holiday Fire Safety Reminders

Firefighters and fire investigators have some safety tips on this Thanksgiving Day and the start of the Christmas-New Year's Holiday Season, when the cooking intensifies.

They say it's a good idea to stay in the kitchen when the stovetop is being used and not leave the house while the turkey is in the oven.

They also remind us to keep children away from the stove, and, of course, make sure your smoke alarms are working.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, Thanksgiving is the biggest day of the year for home cooking fires, and the days through Christmas to New Year's are are also high on the list.
