(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- An Iowa woman investigators say trafficked hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine in Iowa for a drug-trafficking organization that has ties to organized crime in Mexico, has been sentenced to more than seventeen years in federal prison.
Thirty-year-old Sandra Ann Deyerle pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Officers searched Deyerle's residence and found a gun and 100 grams of heroin. A search of Deyerle's storage units turned up 450-pounds of heroin and several pounds of methamphetamine. Deyerle admitted to receiving 200 pounds of meth from the drug trafficking organization.
Deyerle was arrested in May as part of a drug investigation in several Iowa communities including Waterloo, Van Horne, and Jefferson last year.
A judge also ordered Deyerle to serve a five-year term of supervised release after her prison term.
