DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Iowa Attorney General's office is using a settlement to resolve fraud allegations against a Des Moines company's COVID-19 cleaning process.
The state says Heritage Group, Heritage Microbial Control, and Joseph Johnson violated the Consumer Fraud Act by falsely saying it gave long-lasting protection against transmission of COVID-19 on surfaces.
Attorney General Tom Miller's Office says the company has to pay a $75,000 dollar fine, continue to give customer refunds, and stop claiming that it's process gives COVID-19 protection.
Johnson and the companies denied wrongdoing in the case.
The service was sold to around 65 customers in the metro including school districts, medical facilities, municipalities, and large employers.
