Southeast Polk's top ranked safety, Xavier Nwankpa, commits to Iowa

(Runnells, IA) -- The highest ranked high school football recruit in Iowa history, will be play close to home when he goes to college next year.

On Wednesday, Southeast Polk's standout safety Xavier Nwankpa announced that he's committing to Iowa. Nwankpa is the topped-ranked safety in the nation for the 2022 recruiting class and the highest-ranked player in state history. Rivals.com lists him the 20th best high school football recruit in the nation right now.

Nwankpa had narrowed his list of potential schools to University of Iowa, Notre Dame University and Ohio State University. He made his announcement in front of hundreds of classmates at Southeast Polk High School.
