Slick Roads Lead To Northern Iowa Crashes

(Undated) -- Wintery weather this (Thursday) morning led to slick road conditions in north central Iowa. The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office says two of it's vehicles were hit while deputies were investigating earlier crashes.

The Iowa State Patrol reported multiple crashes on northbound I-35, north of Highway 20. Northbound lanes were closed for several hours due to crashes. No injuries have been reported.

Sleet and snow impacted roads in a large part of northern Iowa, causing difficult driving conditions.

The Iowa Department of Transportation issued a message earlier this morning about the icy roads being hard to treat because rain washing away treatment and ice forming.

A winter storm watch will be in effect for Emmet, Hancock, Humboldt, Kossuth, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Winnebago, and Worth counties from 12 PM Friday, December 10ty until 6 AM Saturday, December 11th.
