AMES, Iowa -- The value of Iowa farmland increased by nearly a third this year.
An Iowa State University survey says the value for a acre of farmland is up nearly 0 percent, and is now higher than at any point since the survey started 1941.
They found that the average statewide value of an acre of farmland is nearly $9,800--a nearly $2,200 increase from last year.
ISU says the current farm land price is 12 percent higher than the previous peak in 2013.
Iowa State says farmland values increased in all 99 Iowa counties this year.
For the ninth consecutive year, Scott and Decatur Counties reported the highest and lowest values, respectively.
Land values in Scott County increased 30 percent, or about $3,200 per acre, to $13,852. Values in Decatur County increased 31.5 percent or just over $1,200 per acre, to $5,062.
