A Holiday Season Rite Of Passage: UNO December Commencement

The University of Nebraska at Omaha December 2021 commencement exercises will be this Friday at the University's Baxter Arena.

1,078 students will receive their degrees.

Degrees will be conferred to graduates in two ceremonies: one at 9 A.M. and another at 1 P.M.

University of Nebraska System President Ted Carter and NU Regent Barbara Weitz will be speaking at both of the ceremonies.

The Order of the Tower will be awarded to Natan and Hannah Schwalb for their longtime support of UNO including scholarship funds for students in the College of Business Administration and the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as the establishment of the Schwalb Center for Israel & Jewish Studies at UNO.

The UNO Citation for Alumni Achievement will be presented to Travis Deyle, a 2005 UNO graduate and the the first College of Information Science & Technology graduate to receive the alumni association’s achievement award. Deyle is co-founder and CEO of Cobalt Robotics, a leading robotic security solution provider based in San Mateo, California.

The Chancellor’s Medal will be awarded to Charlotte Evans, Associate Vice Chancellor of Public Safety and Chief of Police at both UNO and UNMC. Evans is believed to be only the second female to rise to the rank of chief of police in Nebraska and will soon begin her 30th year in the University of Nebraska system.
