(Des Moines, IA) -- Three people are hurt after a car went over the George Washington Carver Bridge and landed next to the Raccoon River in Des Moines.

Police say it happened just before 5 p.m. Tuesday as the driver was westbound on Martin Luther King Jr Parkway.

Police say the driver lost control near Fleur Drive and rode the guardrail before falling from the bridge. The car stopped within feet of the Raccoon River.

One woman was unconscious when rescued. All three are expected to survive.
