(Eldora, IA) -- Crews are working to figure out how 75-hundred gallons of gasoline leaked from a northern Iowa gas station. Fumes from the leak in Eldora [[ el-DOR-ah ]] forced a nearby bank to be evacuated today (Friday).
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says crews are removing concrete to get to the source of the leak. Contaminated soil will be sent to the Hardin County landfill.
Agvantage Farm Supply notified DNR about 9 a.m. today about the loss of unleaded gasoline from a self-fueling station.
The DNR says there is currently no sign of the fuel migrating off-site.
Emergency staff and contractors will continue work over the weekend. DNR will monitor the spill and cleanup activities, considering appropriate enforcement action.
