Teen Charged After West Des Moines Shots Fired at Apartment Building

(West Des Moines, IA) -- A 16-year-old boy is charged with attempted murder after shots were fired in West Des Moines. Police were called to apartment building around 8:20 last Thursday night after bullets hit an apartment building in the 83-hundred block of Westown Parkway, at the Maple Grove Villas Apartment Complex.

Police say doorbell camera footage from neighbors showed a male driving to the complex, exiting the vehicle, and discharging a handgun into a neighboring apartment building. Police identified a suspect Saturday, February 27th, and took him to a juvenile detention facility. There were no injuries. Police say they believe it was a targeted shooting and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
