(Des Moines, IA) -- A Des Moines Police detective had to take cover today (Monday), when shots were fired at his unmarked vehicle.
Police say the detective was conducting a follow-up related to an ongoing investigation, and heard gunfire nearby in the 19-hundred block of 9th Street. Police say the detective drove to where the sound of the gunfire was coming and at 9th Street and Franklin Avenue, a person in a vehicle on Franklin started shooting at the detective's vehicle.
The detective was not hurt, and his vehicle was not hit. The suspect sped away at a high rate of speed.
