Heavy Rains Prompt Central Iowa Flooding

(Des Moines, IA) -- Thunderstorms with heavy rain this (Friday) morning have prompted several FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS in central Iowa.

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Boone, Dallas, and northern Polk counties until 12:00 PM CDT

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Jasper, Marshall and Story counties until 12:30 p.m.

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for SE Carroll, SW Greene, and Northern Guthrie counties until 11:30 CDT.

Storms are expected to diminish into the afternoon. The National Weather Service is predicting another round of storms tomorrow (Saturday), which could lead to localized flash flooding and elevated river levels. Saturday is also expected to be windy, with gusts of 40+ mph.

Rainfall totals have ranged from just over one inch in Des Moines to over three inches of rain in parts of northern Polk County, Story and Marshall counties.
