(Douglas County, NE) -- Douglas County Election Commissioner Brian Kruse had predicted a 35-percent voter turn out for Tuesday's primary election. He says it ended up at 31.5 percent, or about 112,800 voters. He says that was high enough to set a record for a primary. Kruse said there were several interesting races, but he says the attention given to the Republican governor's race piqued the interested of Douglas County voters.

Republican Jim Pillen won the GOP primary, with 34 percent of the vote. Republican Charles Herbster finished with 29-percent of the vote, followed by Brett Lindstrom with 28-percent, and Theresa Thibideau with 6-percent.

Pillen will face Democratic State Senator Carol Blood in the general election this fall.

Republican Mike Flood won the primary in the contest for the U-S House seat formerly held by Jeff Fortenberry. Flood will face Democrat Patty Pansing Brooks in November.
