Iowa Median Home Sales Rise, April Closings Dip

(Des Moines, IA) -- Home sales fell nearly 9-percent in April, according to the Iowa Association of Realtors. The median sales price rose nearly 10-percent over April 2021, to $209,700 compared to $191,000 in April of 2021.

The group says 3,591 homes sold in April of 2022, compared with 3,938 a year ago.

The realtors say the number of homes available for sale continues to be low in many price ranges. Our inventory of homes was 28 percent lower than in April 2021 with only 6,522 homes on the market statewide.  

The average days on the market in April was 36, 26.5% faster than in April of last year.
