(Ankeny, IA) -- An Ankeny man has been charged in the shooting death of his four-year-old daughter. Police say Akeem Holmes' daughter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound last month. The 33-year-old Holmes turned himself in this (Tuesday) morning. He's charged with neglect of a dependent person, involuntary manslaughter, and unlawful access of a firearm to a minor.
Police were called May 16th to a home in Ankeny because of a report of a shooting. The victim, 4-year-old Savannah Holmes suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She died at a local hospital.
