Man Killed In Des Moines Shooting Identified

(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines police are identifying a man shot to death on Twana Drive yesterday (Sunday) as 32-year-old Sean Chapman. Two men have been arrested in Chapman's death, Dontaye Burton and Antonio Ross. They are charged with First Degree Murder and First Degree Robbery.

Officers were called to 3630 Twana Drive at 7:17 Sunday morning and found a man dead of obvious traumatic injury.

Detectives determined the homicide happened shortly before 5 a.m. July 17th. Police say both Burton and Ross were present with the victim at the time, and removed items from the crime scene. Detectives recovered three firearms during this investigation.

The case is Des Moines' 10th homicide this year.

Police say the shooting was one of about 200-calls this weekend, including multiple shootings.

Police say a man was shot in the leg after a fight on Court Avenue. Thirty-to-40 shots were heard in a northside neighborhood around midnight Sunday.
