(Omaha, NE) -- A unique dessert shop is opening its doors in Countryside Village this weekend.
Omaha's first, locally owned frozen custard shop, Countryside Cones, will have their grand opening on Saturday, July 23, from noon-10:00 PM. The shop located in Countryside Village, at 8721 Countryside Plaza, will feature soft-serve frozen custard, as well as a vegan (oat-based) soft-serve and a dairy-free/vegan pineapple Dole Whip.
Countryside Cones is the brainchild of a local couple who wanted a kid-friendly ice cream shop in their neighborhood for their family. While not having a background in the food industry Ali Woodward, a former pediatric ICU nurse, and her husband Dr. Chase Woodward, a practicing orthopedic spine surgeon, decided if no one else were going to open an ice cream shop nearby, they would do it. "I have so many childhood memories with my family involving ice cream,” said Ali Woodward, Owner, and Founder of Countryside Cones. “Growing up in New Jersey, I remember many hot summer days down the Jersey shore walking along the boardwalk with a cone in hand, trying to eat it all before it melted down my arm. A classic chocolate-vanilla twist always brings me back to the beach with my family and the nostalgia of a simpler time. I really want my children to make similar memories of time spent with their family right here in our own neighborhood, so we decided to open our own frozen custard shop.”
