(Bellevue, NE) -- An active shooter drill will be held this week at Offutt Air Force Base this week.
The base is scheduled to conduct the active shooter training exercise on Wednesday. Base leaders say there will be increased noise and activity to include simulated gunfire, sirens, messages from loudspeakers and emergency vehicles responding to exercise simulations.
The exercise is a routinely scheduled event ensuring ongoing readiness of first responders and support teams. Base access and traffic may be impacted causing delays.
Evaluation personnel will be present and clearly identifiable during the exercise. Anyone who witnesses someone using a firearm or a weapon to attack someone without the presence of evaluation personnel should take appropriate actions as it could be a real active shooter situation.
