(Lincoln, NE) -- A Lincoln man is arrested in connection to the abduction and sexual assault of a child.

The Lincoln Police Department says around 10:00 Sunday morning, officers were called to the area of 1st and Cornhusker Highway after receiving a report that the child was missing. LPD says officers then began an immediate and intensive search. Police say about two hours later, the 12 year old girl was returned to the area of her home by 59-year-old Mensah Gozo.

Investigators say Gozo is believed to have picked up the child and drove her to his home where he sexually assaulted her. Gozo was arrested later that same day. He is facing charges of 1st degree Sexual Assault of a Child and Child Enticement. As the investigation continues, the Lincoln Police Department says it's working to determine if Gozo had previously met the child, as well as any contact he may have had with other children. LPD says while they don't currently have evidence suggesting there are additional victims, they are sharing the information about this incident to determine if there are.

Anyone wishing to report information about this incident or any other are urged to contact 402.441.6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402.475.3600. LPD says additional information about this incident is not being shared as it remains an active investigation and to respect the privacy of the victim and family.
