(Undated) -- Veterans JD Lehew, Coleman "Rocky" Kinzer, and Ramon Shinohara are on a cross-country trek to raise awareness for US service members declared Missing in Action. The three began their journey in early June in Boston, Massachusetts, and are following Highway 20 with a goal of reaching Newport, Oregon.

The three reached Dubuque over the Labor Day holiday and have since reached Dyersville.

Lehew says their goal is to raise awareness about the more than 81,000 service men and women who were lost overseas and are still missing.

The three are part of a program called The Long Road Home, which coordinates with the US government to recover the bodies and bring them back to the U-S.
