(Des Moines, IA) -- The cat population at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa has been rising dramatically this fall. The A-R-L has dealt with three large-scale cat hoards in the past three weeks. The total number of cats from the rescues is now at 103.
The most recent case was in Webster County, where crews found 37-cats in bad condition. The A-R-L currently has about 1,000 animals at its shelter north of Des Moines.
Robin Dobernecker of the ARL tells WHO Radio News the shelter is very full, due to recent rescues. She many cats, rescued earlier that should be going up for adoption soon after receiving veterinary care.
The ARL is asking those wishing to support their efforts to volunteer and/or donate to the non-profit organization.
