(Des Moines, IA) -- A Des Moines man's facing animal neglect charges, after two dogs were removed from a home last Saturday, January 14th. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa says two large dogs were in separate wire cages, in poor condition, with no food or water. A third dog was found dead. Eric Lavern Hill has been charged in the case.
The ARL says one of the surviving dogs was weighed 31 pounds and was so thin, her ribs, hips, and spine were visible. The dog was also extremely dehydrated.
That dog is now on a special refeeding program to help her regain weight safely.
