(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Police Department is identifying the suspect shot and killed by police in a Tuesday morning shooting that left an officer hurt.

Police say the person killed in the shooting is 45 year-old Weston Dean Derby, whose last known address is in Bellevue, Nebraska. Investigators say Derby pulled a gun after leading police on a chase on Des Moines' south side early Tuesday morning. Officers opened fire, and Derby was fatally shot. Police say one officer was hurt by friendly fire and is in stable condition.
