(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Investigators aren't sure what caused bricks to fall off a Cedar Rapids building this morning.

Fire crews were called to the Ecumenical Community Center on 6th Street at 2nd Ave SE around 2am this morning after neighbors called 911 reporting a loud noise.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department says the bricks hit a gas meter on the structure causing a leak. Utility crews were called to shut off gas to the building.

The city building department will assess the stability of the structure today.
