(Council Bluffs, IA) -- A Council Bluffs man is sentenced to just under twelve years in federal prison after being convicted of drug-related charges.

48-year-old Lawrence Allen Peterson, II, (also known as "Toro") is accused of conspiring with others to distribute methamphetamine in the Council Bluffs area between March and October of last year.

Peterson was previously convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska, according to the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

After completing his term, Peterson will be required to serve a five-year term of supervised release.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa also says the case was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
