(Des Moines, IA) -- Burn bans are posted for six Iowa counties: Adair, Delaware, Greene, Harrison, Lyon, and Osceola. Rain is not expected thru the weekend. The National Weather Service with drought conditions slowly expanding and crops drying, plus warm, windy weather, there will be an elevated fire danger in the west and northwest today (Monday). The elevated fire danger is expected to include much of northern and central Iowa by Wednesday. The N-W-S says finding alternate days to burn other than today or Wednesday is recommended.
