(Des Moines, IA) -- Hy-Vee is removing self-checkout in some locations.

This is to better their customer service. The change has prompted mix reactions from Hy-Vee shoppers. The grocery chain aims to increase face-to-face interactions, as noted by company representatives.

Experts suggest this strategy may also address issues like inventory shrinkage which can be linked to self-checkout systems.

Other retailers, including Target and Walmart, are also reassessing their use of self-checkout options.

Specific store details regarding the changes have not been disclosed by Hy-Vee.
