National Study: Des Moines 3rd Most Livable City in the Country

(Des Moines, IA) -- A new national survey ranks Des Moines among the top five most livable cities in the country.

Website Rent Cafe looked at 139 cities across the country based on 17 metrics including cost of living, lifestyle amenities, and more. Des Moines came in as the 3rd most livable city in the nation, with the average cost of living 12 percent below the national average. Des Moines also ranked highly on healthy food sources, sustainability, and opportunities for young professionals.

The top five most livable cities in the country include:

  1. Portland, ME
  2. Lincoln, NE
  3. Des Moines, IA
  4. Minneapolis, MN
  5. Ann Arbor, MI
