(Des Moines, IA) -- New details about the deadly officer-involved shooting in downtown Des Moines Tuesday morning.

Investigators say the man shot and killed Tuesday morning was armed with a pellet gun. Police say officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a man pointing a gun at a woman a little after 6am Tuesday. Police say officers saw the 70 year-old suspect through a window raise a pistol and point it at officers, who then opened fire, killing the suspect.

The two officers involved in the shooting are on administrative assignment pending a further investigation.
