(Iowa) -- A new national study ranks Iowa near the top of the list of states where credit card delinquency is increasing.
The 50-state study from WalletHub finds Iowa has the second highest increase of people falling behind on their credit cards. Iowa saw a nearly 32 percent increase in the number of delinquent credit cards in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the first quarter. Despite the increase in credit card delinquency, Iowans on average have a low amount of credit card debt compared to residents of other states.
WalletHub says the rise in credit card delinquency in Iowa is partially due to Iowa ranking last in the nation for economic strength. The full study is available on WalletHub's website.
