(Des Moines, IA) -- About 75 people are displaced after an apartment building fire in Des Moines.
Fire crews responded to the fire on East Caulder Avenue at about 4:15 p.m. Monday. Investigators say about 30 apartments were affected.
The Red Cross has opened a shelter for affected residents in the gym of the old Des Moines University campus on Grand Avenue. The shelter is staffed with volunteers ready to help impacted residents until they're able to find more permanent housing.
