Teen joyriding in stolen car while unmarked Des Moines cop car follows

Summer vacation begins this week for local school children.... except for one teenage girl who was arrested Wednesday, on the last day of school, joyriding in a stolen car, say Des Moines Police.

An officer in an unmarked vehicle followed the stolen car as it wound up and down streets on the north side of town, apparently unaware police were behind her, reporting her every move.

The very patient officer followed the car for at least ten minutes before pulling the driver over.

Des Moines Police Sergeant Paul Parizek tells WHO Radio News the driver they arrested is a 16 year old girl who now faces a Theft 2 charge.  That's a Class D Felony.
