Iowa job growth among best in nation

Iowans remain among the most-employed workforce in the United States.

"While the Iowa Unemployment Rate remains at 3.1 percent for the third stright month, Iowa added 5,500 jobs."  Cory Kelly with Iowa Workforce tells WHO Radio News.

It was the first gain in Iowa since February.  

"That's pushed us up in national rankings, from eighth to seventh.  We are tied for seventh with Vemont and Wisconsin."  Kelly says.  

Biggest job gains come in trade and transportation. Manufacturing added 2,300 jobs, led by food manufacturing. Information services added jobs for the first time since January and increased by 300 jobs in May. 

Job losses were led by leisure and hospitality, down 12-hundred.Construction, education and health care services were down slightly.
