Senator Bernie Sanders is on his way back to Iowa for the first time since last year's election.

The former Democratic candidate for President will join Black Lives Matter co-founder Alicia Garza to speak at the annual Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement Action Fund convention this weekend.

Sanders eventually lost the Democratic nomination to Hillary Rodham Clinton last year.

The CCI convention will be held at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines on Saturday.
