Iowa man sentenced to life, for child sex trafficking

(Des Moines, Iowa)  An Urbandale man has been sentenced to life in prison, for two counts of child sex trafficking.   

United States District Court Judge Stephanie Rose has sentenced 41-year-old Clark Wesley Betts has also been sentenced to three, concurrent terms of 40 years' imprisonment for three counts of distribution of a controlled substance, to a person under age 21.

Betts has been ordered to pay nearly $350,000 in restitution to the first minor victim, and $374,000 to the second minor victim.

He must also pay $500 to the Crime Victims' Fund.

A jury convicted Betts in June of this year, of sex trafficking and drug charges, stemming from an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Des Moines Police Department. 

 Betts was convicted of providing two minor victims to Betts' drug dealer for sex acts, in exchange for crack cocaine.

Betts was also convicted of providing crack cocaine to three minor victims.
