Snowy owl spotted in Wright County Iowa

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is sharing this picture of a snowy owl, caught on camera in Wright County recently.

DNR wildlife experts say while snowy owls are an occasional winter visitor to Iowa, they are more common when lemming populations are lower in Canada, sending the owls south searching for food.

Experts say the owls are in Iowa looking for mice and other small mammals.
