Urbandale, Iowa names new police chief

(Urbandale, Iowa)  Urbandale City Manger A.J. Johnson has announced a veteran of the Urbandale Police Department has been chosen to take over as chief.  

Patrol Captain Rob Johansen has been with the department for 24-years.   

Johansen earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska Omaha, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Iowa State University, and was a graduate of the 241st session of the FBI National Academy program at Quantico, Virginia.

He'll take over for Chief Ross McCarty, who is retiring after a 33-year career.
