Lt. Col. Ralph Peters Leaves Fox News, Deems It "Propaganda"

fox news

I've talked to Lt. Colonel Ralph Peters a couple of times on my show and you've seen him frequently on Fox News as an analyst.

Peters has quit Fox News, calling it a "propaganda machine" for President Trump.

His comments came in an email obtained by Buzzfeed.

"When prime-time hosts — who have never served our country in any capacity — dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the FBI, the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller — all the while scaremongering with lurid warnings of 'deep-state' machinations — I cannot be part of the same organization, even at a remove," Peters wrote. "To me, Fox News is now wittingly harming our system of government for profit."

While Lt. Colonel Peters continues to be welcome on my show, I am going to disagree with him here.

As I've said frequently on the show, every American should have been stunned by Senator Chuck Schumer's comments after President Trump was elected:  "Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,"  Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told host Rachel Maddow on MSNBC.

So members of our intelligence community would use their positions to actively work against the duly-elected President of the United States?  Disturbing.

And note that I said MEMBERS.  Where people like Lt. Colonet Ralph Peters get it wrong is that the Fox News hosts are criticizing the agencies as a whole.  But Fox News HAS been reported that members of the Justice Department, the FBI, and the intelligence community have been communicating their opposition to the President amongst themselves.

We need a media that holds the government accountable, not defends it at all costs.
