How you can help "Stamp Out Hunger" in Des Moines!

The 26th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Event, a cooperative effort between the U.S. Postal Service and DMARC Food Pantry is this Saturday, May 12th.  Adam Griswold, Acting Postmaster, Letter Carrier Michelle Paulson, Luke Elzinga and Shoshana Salowitz of DMARC joined us in the studio this morning.  They said to simply put your groceries in the Hy-Vee sack you should have already received from your letter carrier, by your mailbox or curb on Saturday.  They will pick them up while delivering your mail.  They are requesting peanut butter, high fiber-low sugar cereals and fruit packed in 100% juice.  Volunteers are needed next week at the State Fairgrounds Event to sort the food.  Get more information at www.DMARCUnited.org.  You can hear the entire interview here...

Tomorrow on Van and Bonnie, do you have some household items you no longer use and are looking for a new home for them?  Do you have any slightly used furniture items?  We are trying to fill a Mayflower Truck with items for abused women that have left home with nothing and are trying to start life over again.  We'll have all the details tomorrow.  Plus, it's Friday, so we'll have the Friday Morning News Quiz and four more chances for you to win $1,000!  We're also working on getting Coach Dixie Wooten of the Iowa Barnstormers on with us...now solidly in 2nd place!

Have a wonderful day!

Bonnie
